The past years in music

Well where to start. From being made redundant to walking away from the rat race and buying a guitar after an eighteen year gap. Got into some jam sessions at festivals, Then started Beggars Row with my mate Ian Raymond. We were only going a few months doing mainly bars to build a song set.

Then we unexpectedly ended up going to Moscow and playing theatres and concert halls to full houses. TV shows, radio shows, press conferences. Then Netherlands happened followed by concerts in Belgium, Norway then Skagen Festival in Denmark and further tours there. England, and Wales fitted in among all that also.

Every year we did this and during this early period I got into Celtic Horizon duo.

Then Beggars Row went to Ireland and Israel. Two five weeks tours in Missouri, USA.

Celtic Horizon also went to Netherlands and Germany.

Along these times we recorded a few CDs. So far I think I have been recorded on 12 CDs without actually counting.

The line up has changed through the years as it does with most bands.

During the recession David left Beggars Row and we stayed with a four piece line up. A lot of venues struggled to afford five piece bands or larger. So it enabled us to get more concerts while many bands were cancelling overseas tours.

Still we had some great times and met and made many, many friends. We played some fantastic venues with terrific fun audiences. It was an experience I will never forget. Still the past seventeen years has been successful. If I could go back in time, would I change anything? yes sure I would. I have, and the bands have made many mistakes over the years. Of course we would fix them, but there were hundreds of funny harmless mistakes too.

All in all, the last seventeen years have been great fun. Strange how most folk thought I made most of my money with Beggars Row. Yeah we did alright, however most of my income was through Celtic Horizon and solo work.

Celtic Horizon have performed thousands of concerts especially Private Corporate events at many of the most prestigious venues in Scotland. Strange when these started as a sideline to back up my income. Now after all these years we have become seasoned corporate event specialists. Most times for many of the companies we are the only, or one of the first acts they contact.

These will continue for as long as we are able to play and perform well.

So Beggars Row will end with many happy memories. There is no use looking back in regret, only looking forward to new challenges and new roads.

I hope all our Beggars Row fans will support myself and any of the other Beggars Row members in any other act they travel with.

So the past is gone. I will see you all along the road to the future.

Thanks for visiting my website.

Skids!
