Blog number 3 after final concert

Well, Blog no3 on my new website.

The website has everything completed mostly and is up and running. It has been on the go for months; however, time escaped me to get it finished. There is more to come as the months go by.

I have been through this process several times until it struck me that I needed a web host that is more music friendly to make things easier for me. I have made the move now and will gradually wind down the old website.

Once the first album is finished then my shop page will open and the same for every album after that. I have about four or five albums to do, so there is a bit of work involved.  I have already begun sifting through countless songs I have written and not finished or done anything with yet.

Part of the fun of this is re-discovering songs I had entirely forgotten about. Another fun part is listening to old songs I had written and discarded. When I listen to them back, I realise the chorus is excellent for example but the rest is poor. Therefore, I keep the chorus and rewrite the rest. It seems to get easier with age.

All this comes on the back of the farewell concert in Norway. What a fun night that was. On the way home, we stopped off in Denmark and had an excellent final show in Hjorring. We were knackered after all the encores. What a great finish followed by an even later after-party until 9am.

I arrived home at midnight and had a smashing sleep. As soon As I opened up the laptop more business was coming in, so no rest for the wicked. Agents with offers of work are always welcome. I have to confess I was a little worried about getting enough work after Beggars Row ending. The response has been fantastic. As soon as all the finalities were over the phone and emails came in from all over the place.

At first, I never realised how much work, but eventually it started to sink in that events were moving faster than I could have predicted. So keep tuned to my blogs to find out what is going on in the near future. I had to sit down and break it all down to see exactly what I had in front of me.

Here it is so far: the leading role in two new theatre style shows. Joint lead role in two other shows. Three solo acts, Celtic Horizon Big band, Celtic Horizon duo, a joint project with Andehlian called BoDehlian.

On top of that, I am well on the way in collating and writing many of my own songs for my own Bob’s band.

Overall, eleven separate projects. Not bad considering everything.

I will be breaking into other genres for a couple of projects including one of the shows that is a multi-tribute act show. This is with Mick Coyle and we are looking at several mainstream acts to cover in the show. We also include a section on modern country and standards.

Another Genre is Opera and Classical. Already I am working on the demos for; I dreamed a dream, Bring him home, Nessun Dorma, Time to say goodbye, songs from The Phantom of the Opera and others. This is for a corporate show.

This is part of the fun of music and moving on. Although Celtic music is my first love. I love almost all forms of music and by moving on from Beggars Row, I get the chance to embrace some of these other genres. I am also taking ballet lessons.

You will notice on this new website a section on my book writing. I have been embracing novel writing with a passion. Most writers tend to work on several projects at a time. I am in the same trap. In time, I will upload the first chapters of my novels on to the appropriate story page on here.

Well, I hope this lets you see that life is still two-hundred-miles an hour now. I hope you enjoy my blogs. I will be adding them regularly. You can join my newsletter list and get short emails when I have something new to tell you.

Anything you would like to see on my new website-just write me a message and I will see what I can do.

Keep an eye out for my new Scottish folk songs lyrics website coming soon.

Finally, thanks to all the fantastic Beggars Row fans and Friends over the years. You are all truly amazing.

Regards

Bob
